Training

Dorking and Mole Valley splits its training into two main seasons, Winter and Summer. Most Winter training is done on the roads around Dorking but some members do go for regular off road runs at the weekend and we’ve even been known to do a few head torch runs for a bit of variety. During the summer track sessions and off road runs over Ranmore Common also make up the program.

Whether you aim is to compete, improve your fitness, or sculpt a new toned you, our structured sessions can help you achieve your goals. Many of our members train to compete and our experienced coaches and members can help you find your next great race whether if be Road, Trail, Cross Country, Track, Field, Triathlon, Cycling, Swimming, Fell, Ultra, or Orienteering.

Ad-Hoc Sessions/Updates:  All notifications and instructions are sent out by email. Please ask Gill Hudson (Communications Officer) to add your email to the list if you wish to receive these notices.

Monday

Competitive Juniors Track Session
Location: Pixham Lane
Time: 19:00
For: Juniors All ages (See Junior page)
Coach: Robert Russell.

Keep Fit -Stretching, circuits, warm down.
Location OAKFIELD JUNIOR SCHOOL, FETCHAM
TIME: 7.30pm.
For: over 15s.
Coaches: Alan Archer, Lesley Taylor.

Junior Track and Field Training
Location: Pixham lane, Dorking
Time: 18:30 – 20:00
For: Juniors aged 12 – 18 (See Junior page)
Coach: Fran Davey
Assistant Coaches: Sophie Short, Richard Shaw, Tim Harding and Jes Warmisley
The group is fully subscribed with 40 athletes at this time.

Outdoor Trail Run
Location: Ranmore Common Car Park
Time: 19:00
For: Seniors only

Middle Distance/X-Country training.
Location: Various venues around Dorking area off road.
Time: 5.30-6.30pm.
For: Under 15’s and above. All athletes that want to improve their performance in order to compete in the future at county, regional and national level.

Wednesday

Beginners/Improvers Swim Tuition
Location: Dorking Leisure Centre Pool

Juniors U11 Athletics Session (See Junior page)
Location: Pixham lane, Dorking
Time: 18:30-17:30
For: Juniors under 11 years old (where athletes learn the basics of running, jumping and throwing).
Coaches: Linda Davey and Christine Stables

The track session is followed by a BBQ on the last Thursday of each month starting in May with the last one in August.
